I remember the first time I knew I wanted to be a professional oboist. It was at a middle school band concert and I had just finished performing a piece that a friend and I had wrote. We stood up and received a standing ovation, and in that moment, I felt so much joy. This feeling of connection to the audience. It was, oh my gosh, absolutely amazing. And after that I knew that I needed to chase this feeling. Since then, after my performances, I can feel that joy.
