Hey there!

I am writing this from my cozy flat in the UK. I have just finished my coffee and porridge and wanted to update you on all the amazing things that are happening.
Believe it or not, dreams come true. I want you to believe it because I am living my dream!
I am so excited to take you along for this amazing chapter. Let’s get started!
I have just moved from the US to the UK to study oboe at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

This past week has been full of moving chaos, and a ton of fun.
I was so excited when I got the keys to my flat. To be honest, I was so surprised at how homely the flat feels already, and am feeling so grateful to have such an incredible space.
Being a musician is a lot of things, but it is also creating a space where I can learn and grow. That’s what this flat will be, and it is so incredibly exciting.
Next was to clean the flat. And that is what I did… for two whole days. Being able to prepare the space felt like such an honour, to be honest. I am so grateful for this flat and to make it feel clean felt so important to me.
Just putting on a fun podcast, and cleaning the flat was so therapeutic and calming.
Now that the flat is clean, onto IKEA!!
When I tell you that this was one of my favourite parts, that is no joke. I absolutely LOVE IKEA. (Who is with me on that, hands up!)
Choosing furniture and housewares for my space was so much fun. There was SO MUCH stuff in my cart by the end of it. (Seriously I had to drag 7 IKEA bags’ worth of stuff to my flat — talk about exhausting!)
I think my favourite thing I got was this big teapot below. I think every home needs a teapot and this one was just calling my name.

Then I had my first oboe lesson here in the UK.
Term doesn’t actually start for a few weeks, but my teacher wanted to have a quick session to get me on the right path. In studying in the UK, I am undertaking an exciting challenge- switching from the American style of playing to the European style of playing. This is a HUGE transition, so my teacher wanted to make sure I was on the right track before terms starts.
I was so excited for it that I took a little video for you right before I left for it.
The last big thing was getting WIFI in the flat. I mean, now I can write to you! (seriously, one week without WIFI was tricky — so I just took photos and videos, and now I can share them with you here!)
Stay tuned for more about this exciting adventure, and I will share with you all the fun things that are coming our way.
2 years ago when I was auditioning for music school, I would have never of dreamed of this. But now I have moved to the UK to attend my dream school. Dreams do come true when we work hard at them.
Comment below, what are your dreams/goals? Let’s encourage each other!
All my best,
Eleanor
